RamsayMedia became the first SA media company to join the growing international phenomenon of discounted online group buying deals last week when it offered its two leading titles, Car and Getaway, through MyCityDeal.co.za (previously Twangoo).
The discount offer ran over three days, netting more than 700 subscriptions for the two titles, a response RamsayMedia’s subscriptions marketing manager, Sandy Immelman, described as “more than satisfying”.
This was the first national offer for MyCityDeal – just launched by international company Groupon SA – which offers a mix of exceptional discounts and special deals countrywide, as well as for the specific cities it focuses on (currently Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town and Durban).
“Having embraced the other multimedia opportunities available to our brands, the exciting world of social commerce, the single fastest-growing space online, was the obvious next step for us,” commented Immelman.
“This was a great opportunity to partner with Groupon SA as it launched the South African arm of its international group buying powerhouse. We were proud to have our subscriptions being offered at a unique rate during the launch week, and to be first in the country to run such an offer on this platform.”
