South African advertising agency Net#work BBDO has won the prestigious Cannes Lion Radio Grand Prix for their Mercedes-Benz – Safety Features Love, Bud, Toby radio campaign at the Palais de Festivals in Cannes, France, last night.
“It’s extremely exciting for Net#work BBDO and we’re very happy to be the first agency in South Africa to have won three Cannes Grand Prix since 2007. Radio is such an important medium in South Africa and we’re very proud of the fact that we’ve done so well in the category and doubly so because all of our work is produced in our very own studio – First Left,” said executive creative director for Net#work BBDO, Rob McLennan.
In addition, the agency was also awarded three Gold Radio Lions and two Silver Radio Lions at the 58th annual Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival Creativity.
“It’s also a fantastic achievement to win so convincingly for our clients Mercedes Benz and Galderma. We were convinced that the work was great and it’s hugely gratifying that the world’s best creatives judging at the benchmark award ceremony, acknowledged this as well,” McLennan said.
“It was pretty much a clean sweep and huge respect must go to our creative champions Jenny Glover and Brent Singer who conceptualised both of these campaigns.”
Net#work BBDO walked away with two Gold Lions (overall campaign) and one Silver Lion (Best Scriptwriting) in the Radio category for their Galderma Benzac Acne Treatment – Brad, Gav, Glenda’ campaigns. They were also awarded a Gold Lion for Best Scriptwriting and a Silver Lion for Craft for the Mercedes-Benz – Safety Features Love, Bud, Toby radio campaign.
Since 2007 Net#work BBDO have been awarded three Grand Prix, two of which have been for the Radio category at the annual Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival.
