Posterscope East Africa has organised the first ever Out of Home conference to be held outside South Africa. The conference, held in early November, drew participants from the media industry as both media agencies and media owners were represented. Over 20 delegates attended the conference exceeding the initial expectations, as the concept of Out of Home is still fairly new in the market.
“Out of Home is not just boring billboards on our roads but is an exciting and dynamic media which requires strategic thinking and enables us to be creative when providing media solutions to our clients,” said George Mugendi, the MD of Posterscope East Africa in his opening address.
The agenda of the conference was designed to address the various issues affecting growth of Out of Home media in Kenya, as well as explore case studies and best practices from other markets outside Africa that delegates could learn from with a view to implementing the same opportunities in the local market. Among the key presenters at the conference were Christian Skipper, Posterscope’s International Development Director and Bruce Burgess, Posterscope’s Africa Development Manager joined by Paul Makepeace, Posterscope Senior Planner and East Africa Launch Co-ordinator and George Mugendi, the local Managing Director for Posterscope East Africa.
Giving a presentation on digital trends, Skipper predicted that based on digital media trends and the growth shown especially in South Africa, Africa will be the new frontier in digital advertising possibly overtaking Europe in terms of out of home media spend market shares.
