The Advertising Media Forum (AMF) is calling all media agencies to nominate employees who they feel would be ideal candidates for further education and training. The AMF scholarship fund, created from the proceeds of last year’s Mystery Masters’ Golf Day, will award rising media agency stars who have exhibited exceptional personal and career attributes and show promise in significantly contributing to the media agency landscape.
The AMF is working in collaboration with Wag the Dog Publishers in selecting candidates who wish to apply for shorter career development courses, whether these are media or management intensive. Last year’s scholarship winners enrolled for strategic communications, digital marketing and management development programmes at the Gordon Institute of Business Science, Stellenbosch University and the University of Johannesburg respectively.
“Our aim in awarding these scholarships is to equip candidates with skills they would not likely acquire in the normal course of their functions. All of them will have the benefit of gaining knowledge of contemporary and future trends in the media agency sector,” said AMF chairperson, Erica Gunning.
Last year’s winners were Lee Schmidt (from Mediology), Motshedise Ntsie (from MediaCom) and Jean Rimmer (from Notabene).
“I believe my studies will further my skills and encourage new ways of thinking in a dynamic and innovative media agency environment. I believe my new knowledge will be an asset to the projects I take,” said Schmidt. Rimmer said: “I am so excited to begin my course that will teach me everything I need to know about the upcoming field of online advertising and how it fits in a brand’s overall communication strategy.” And Ntsie said: “I have many short, medium and long-term goals set out and my degree will only enhance and perhaps hasten the process of my leadership development in the media agency sphere.
“We urge media agencies to nominate promising candidates that they feel will contribute to the sustainability and buoyancy of the ever-changing and rapidly innovative media sphere,” said Sandra Gordon, CEO of Wag the Dog Publishers.
