A partnership between two of South Africa’s leading digital publishers, Kagiso New Media and TEAMtalk media, will see Kagiso, through its sales arm Digitalmark, acquire the exclusive rights to sell advertising on TEAMtalk media’s stable of international sports websites throughout the African continent.
TEAMtalk media has a portfolio of popular online sports brands that include Planet Sport, Planet F1, Planet Rugby, Football411 and more. But it also represents Sky Media in Africa, bringing a stable of well-known international media brands into the network, including Sky Sports, Sky News and Sky.com.
“The partnership with TEAMtalk and Sky Media offers a powerful and captive audience to our clients. We feel that the healthy appetite for sports alignment by the top brands in South Africa deserves a dedicated focus,” says Kagiso New Media CEO, Craig Corte.
“Considering the consumption of sporting content we are proud and excited to partner with the leading sports network in South Africa.”
Kagiso New Media already run the howzit MSN portal in South Africa, as well as Windows Live and Hotmail through its partnership with Microsoft South Africa.
Tim Legg, managing director of TEAMtalk media, believes the deal presents a fantastic opportunity for the company.
“This was an important strategic decision for us and we are excited by our choice of partner, given Kagiso’s demonstrable success in building advertising revenues on its other digital media channels,” he says. “We also believe the strength of the Howzit MSN brand and Kagiso’s reach into Africa will be a significant factor in driving the growth of our sports brands throughout the continent.”
The partnership will allow advertisers easy, one-point access to Africa’s largest digital sports network and align TEAMtalk’s expert content provision services with Kagiso New Media’s ad sales expertise.
