The summer edition of Getaway International will take readers far off the beaten track with a feature on a 4×4 expedition through the ‘Stan’ countries – the southern states of the former USSR. From white-marble cities and gas craters to Islamic citadels and nomadic mountain camps, the journey ticks all the boxes of great adventure travel. A first-time visit to Asia’s subcontinent explores as much of India as possible in five kaleidoscopic weeks.
Although this is a summer issue of Getaway International, with southern hemisphere offerings such as the best of Buenos Aires and African houseboating in the editorial mix, editor Justin Fox recognises that many readers head overseas during the Christmas holiday period. “We’ve included a number of exciting, northern-winter destinations for these travellers: from the snowy heights of Switzerland and the glamour of New York to the ice of Sweden and the deserts of Oman,” he says.
In keeping with the design objective for the title, the issue is a visual feast and is printed on high-quality paper to appeal to a sophisticated, upmarket and travel-savvy audience, according to the publisher, Jacqueline Lahoud.
