The scenery is familiar. Of course it is. It’s Ait Benhaddou, a fortified city and Unesco World Heritage Site that has hosted films like Gladiator and Prince of Persia.
This time around, though, it was the location of Nedbank Private Wealth’s new commercial, No Stone Unturned, shot by Egg Films’ Kim Geldenhuys.
Working closely with M&C Saatchi Abel executive creative director Gordon Ray, art director Helen Botes and producer Bronwyn Henry, Geldenhuys shot on location in Morocco for Nedbank
The two lead children were street cast, had never acted before, and didn’t speak English, but both produced memorable performances, with Geldenhuys directing them via a Moroccan actress who acted as the translator.
Paul Hepker, who scored Tsotsi and Rendition, composed the soundtrack. Kobus Loots edited the commercial at Upstairs Post, with BlackGinger handling the online and Searle Street Post the grade.
