The 60th Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity is set to host a challenging Young Lions Competition this year with young creatives being given just 48 hours to film and edit a 60-second commercial. What’s more, the commercial has to be filmed entirely on a mobile device!
Our creatives are always up for challenge and Cinemark, the local representative for Cannes Lions, is giving young hopefuls under the age of 28 the chance to represent South Africa at the 2013 event with a local version of the competition. Talented creatives are invited to register for the Young Lions Competition at www.cinemark.co.za.
The local competition will see teams briefed on 26 February to work on the special project on behalf of a non-profit organisation. Given just 48 hours, the entering teams will be required to deliver an advert filmed on a mobile device and the winners will travel to Cannes in June to face a gripping competition amongst the best in the world.
All work produced in the competition is available for the charity to incorporate into their marketing campaign following Cannes. Tools at the festival include software – Apple Final Cut Pro and Apple iMovie. Each workstation consists of an Apple iMac. The Young Lions will also have access to a music library courtesy of Getty Images.
An exciting opportunity awaits as you could be the team representing South Africa at this dynamic festival. To stand a chance of being selected to represent South Africa in the Young Lions Competition at the 60th Cannes Lions festival in June 2013, register now.
