For something a little different, this week’s ad review takes a look at a commercial produced in India for Vodaphone but it has a South African angle as Platypus Productions handled both the shoots and the post-production in Cape Town.
The ZooZoo’s is a great way to show Vodafone’s product and the service they bring to their customers. I appreciated the captivating and innovative way of showing everything about Vodafone’s product without saying a word.
The advertisement, by Ogilvy & Mather, creates a suggestion that Vodafone is coming with something new in the market and viewers will soon be able to use it.
Since the ZooZoo’s have the cuteness factor people like and a catchy jingle to match, they are the kind of characters that attracts all age groups, from kids to adults. These elements make it something you would want to watch again.
Platypus worked closely with top Indian animator Vaibhav Kumaresh, as well as members of the Oscar-winning team of visual effects artists from Life of Pi.
It is also a great way of building and sustaining engagement with the brand through social media as these characters mesmerise people, and by liking the ZooZoo’s Facebook page – 15 million people have already – people get to connect more with the brand. It is a splendid idea and great ad.
