e.tv staff members, the cast from Scandal! and Sasani pledged shoeboxes to this year’s Santa Shoebox Project, a community initiative launched by the Kidz2Kidz Trust, with ‘share the joy of giving’ as the essence of the project. e.tv was the media sponsor of this year’s drive, supporting it with a massive on-air campaign. The organisation received pledges of more than 10 000 boxes per day for the first three days! A total of 119 163 have been pledged and 117 774 boxes have been dropped off.
“We are all about changing people’s lives, the Santa Shoebox Project is a fantastic initiative. e.tv is happy to be involved in a project that brings so many smiles during the festive season,” said e.tv group channel head, Monde Twala.
Gift boxes are filled with some necessities, such as toothpaste and toothbrush, face cloth and soap, as well as some sweets, educational supplies, a toy and an outfit of clothing that is individually chosen and filled. The shoeboxes are dropped off at designated points and the organisation then coordinates the distribution thereof to identified homes and schools across Africa.
