South Africa’s taverns trade magazine has announced a growth of 11.49% according to its latest Audit Bureau Circulations of South Africa (ABC) figures. Spotong was launched in 2011 and is currently distributing a total of 9 692 copies directly to legal taverns and shebeens throughout Gauteng.
Spotong Editor, Donald Makhafola, says the magazine prides itself on offering traders in the liquor and hospitality industries, valuable, comprehensive and informative content that not only educates them of industry developments, trends and regulations but that can also guide them into better business practices all around.
Spotong is published by Contact Media & Communications and company CEO, Sean Press and MD, Donna Verrydt are satisfied with the substantial growth in a very difficult market.
“Magazine publishing in general, whether consumer or custom, is a difficult industry to be in right now,” says Verrydt. “But Spotong is an example of how a print entity can defy the odds and not only offer the reader relevant and important trade information, but also value and a decent return on investment for advertisers and sponsors too. ”
Press said he is very pleased with the ABC figures. “We have big plans for the title for 2014 and 2015 and these latest figures show us that we are on the right road to achieving our publishing goals.”
