Times Media LIVE (TML) has recorded more than 250% year-on-year growth to become the country’s second largest online advertising network, as reported by Effective Measure for October 2014. TML now reaches over six million local unique browsers (UBs) across its network of 19 websites.
Derek Abdinor, general manager of digital publishing for TML, believes the overall growth figures indicate the strong audience appeal of TML’s network, “attained through constantly finding efficiencies, revenue and audience-led development and shrewd use of data to hack the online publishing model”.
“TML now touches over six million UBs monthly on platforms devoted to general news, premium business and political news, entertainment, regional, lifestyle and classifieds. Running campaigns across all our media, print and broadcast platforms, will generate thorough returns,” says Abdinor. TML’s audience majority lies within the mid to high income brackets, having a tertiary education, and ranging between 25 to 44 years of age.
Of all TML’s sites, Times LIVE has led the charge establishing a 54% increase in UBs from September 2014 to October 2014. Times LIVE reached 2.1-million South African UBs in October. While that was a strong news month, Times LIVE has performed above the industry average and has experienced a 300% increase in UB’s over the past 12 months.
“Our growth over the last year is a clear indication that when big news breaks more South Africans know Times LIVE is the place to find out what’s going on,” says Reuben Goldberg, editor of Times LIVE. Times LIVE carries predominantly breaking news and aggregated content, but is also the online home of its sister publications the Sunday Times and The Times.
