On Digital Media’s (ODM’s) payTV platform, StarSat, has confirmed and secured a deal to broadcast the international World Rally Championships Exclusive for the next two years. The recently signed deal will saw the first event of the season – the legendary Monte Carlo Rally, broadcast this past weekend.
“We are very excited to have signed this exclusive deal with World Rally Championships. This is one of the world’s most exciting motorsport championships, which is good news for the many motorsport enthusiasts among our subscribers. As an added bonus this year, South African driver Henk Lategan is participating,” says Gary Rathbone, director of sport at StarTimes.
The deal WRC deal comes hot on the heels of StarSat obtaining exclusive production and broadcasting rights for the Turkish Airlines Friendship Cup between German Bundesliga giants VfL Wolfsburg and local club Ajax Cape Town, as well as a strategic partnership formed with Siyaya TV to broadcast Bafana Bafana games for the next five years.
“It seems 2015 is set to be a great year for StarSat and our viewers who are avid sport fanatics,” Rathbone said.
