South Africa’s agency leaders were asked by MarkLives to nominate their most-admired agency in two categories — regional (Cape Town and Johannesburg) and national — as well as their most-admired creative director and the most-admired agency boss. The results were announced by the site’s editor, Herman Manson, on Monday.
Ogilvy & Mather Cape Town has emerged as the most-admired ad agency in South Africa in 2014 and the group’s creative head, Chris Gotz, retained the number one position from 2013 of South Africa’s most admired creative director. Joe Public voted runner-up in the agency category and its founder and chief creative officer, Pepe Marais, was runner up in the most admired creative leader slot.
Most-admired agency boss resulted in a tie between Gareth Leck, group CEO of Joe Public, and Brett Morris, group CEO and CCO, FCB South Africa. James Barty, CEO of King James Group, was the runner-up.
Ogilvy & Mather Cape Town was voted the most digitally integrated agency, with Publicis Machine and FCB South Africa tying as runners-up. The agency ad execs said they saw Publicis Machine as the one to watch in the future, with Ogilvy Johannesburg/Gloo and FCB South Africa coming in tie as runner-up.
