Van Rooyen joins Tribeca from a technology-focused PR agency where she worked on both business-to-business and consumer accounts doing internal and external communications, event management and content development.
She enjoys public relations because it enables creative freedom, relationship-building and professional growth, and the opportunity to be engaging storytellers all at the same time.

Who’s won what
Tribeca farms new business with GWK
GWK, a South African agribusiness, has appointed Tribeca Public Relations (Tribeca) as its PR agency partner. The agency is tasked with supporting GWK as it entrenches its business as a leading innovator and partner to farmers in one of the most challenging and intriguing sectors of the South African economy.
The appointment follows Tribeca’s role in co-ordinating communications around GWK’s rebranding and repositioning at the end of 2015, including the announcement of its 2015 financial results, and the launch of GWK’s ground-breaking stop-frame animation advertisement. Tribeca also assisted in telling the story about the launch of GWK Farm Foods, a subsidiary of GWK responsible for the Nature’s Farms range of consumer food products currently available nationally in Pick n Pay.
“What really attracted me to Tribeca was the company’s vision, more specifically its commitment to supporting its clients’ business objectives. What I can say, from my experience, is that everyone at Tribeca works according to those commitments and beyond. I look forward to building the partnership further with the team,” says Neil de Klerk, GWK executive marketing manager.

Mimecast to sponsor 702’s Technobyte!
Email security company Mimecast has announced it will sponsor popular Talk Radio 702 radio show, Technobyte! The sponsorship comes after months of collaboration between the two brands.
Brandon Bekker, MD at Mimecast South Africa, says that partnering with such a prominent radio station is indicative of Mimecast’s growth and the relevance of spreading the message of cyber-security to a wider audience. “Mimecast sponsoring Technobyte makes a lot of sense,” he says.
“We are seeing that cybercrime impacts individuals and businesses alike and the consequences of a data breach can be detrimental to both. By partnering with Primedia in this venture, we’re reaching business owners and decision makers who need to be more aware of the value of protecting the important, and often highly sensitive, information stored in emails.”

Mark1 Labs the only African business shortlisted for Global MMA SMARTIES Award
Mark1’s design division is the only African organisation shortlisted for the Global MMA SMARTIES award this year. The local awards took place during Loeries Creative Week in Durban and was a sterling testament to the exciting mobile media landscape in South Africa. The MMA SMARTIES awards are the only global awards that are specifically focused on mobile marketing and takes place on the 26th of September in New York.
“The Opel Adam (GM) campaign is one that we’re particularly proud of. We used rich media in a way that surpassed global benchmarks. All while keeping our local audience front of mind. We didn’t want data costs to get in the way of people being able to use the rich media ad unit so we made sure it was under 100kb but with full functionality,” says Brendan Sterley, creative director of Mark1 Labs.
