Nick Grubb

Nick Grubb started his professional radio career in news, stringing for a variety of clients via East Cape News Agencies before becoming News Editor of the then-newly-independent regional AC station Radio Algoa in 1997. Nick took over programming at Radio Algoa in 1999 as part of the management structure that grew audiences by 40%. He joined the SABC as the inaugural Programme Manager at its’ national CHR station 5FM in 2002. He guided changes in the programming strategy that repositioned the station from a dwindling, ageing and exclusive brand to what is now the SABC’s most racially diverse station, targeting 20-30 year-old South Africans. Nick took over programming strategy for the SABC’s commercial division in 2006 which broadened his format experience into the CHR Rhythmic format of Good Hope FM and the Urban Rhythmic leanings of the 5-million-strong METRO FM.
