Who’s won what
The Old Shanghai Wins Bestmed
The Old Shanghai Firecracker Factory has won the Bestmed advertising account in a five-way pitch. Bestmed is one of SA’s Top 10 open medical schemes and is a full service, open medical scheme, with a 47 year old legacy, with more than 70 000 principal members, providing medical cover for 145 000 lives.
The Old Shanghai will be responsible for all above-the-line and below-the-line advertising, as well as broker communication, and digital strategy and execution through Saatchi & Saatchi’s digital arm, AtPlay.
Bestmed’s COO, Alan Fritz says that The Old Shanghai participated in a process against the following criteria: track record and industry knowledge as a through the line agency; infrastructure to support Bestmed’s new brand strategy; agency profile and creativeness; agency fee structure; and BBBEE.
“The Old Shanghai outscored the five other opponents who in their own right are industry heavy weights,” he says. “What attracted us mainly was the absolute professionalism of the agency, the cost effective team-based structure and turnaround time of delivery.”
Commenting on winning the business, Sandra McDiarmid, MD of The Old Shanghai says that she is pleased that Bestmed’s bought into The Old Shanghai’s entrepreneurial way of working with its clients.
Two new accounts for Greater Than
Greater Than has announced two new account gains: Myatt Café and Chocolatier and SAIL.
For the fourth year running, SAIL has appointed Greater Than to manage its PR campaign for the prestigious L’Ormarin’s Queen’s Plate taking place at Kenilworth racecourse on January 7, 2012. Greater Than will be tickling media’s taste buds with Myatt Café & Chocolatier elegance and decadence. Greater Than’s full service six-month campaign will include all PR and events and will promote all that is Myatt Café and Chocolatier. This includes handcrafted cakes, imported Mary Belgium Chocolates, delicate Macaroons, exquisite High Tea’s, special events, private parties and beautiful gifting for Christmas, birthdays and weddings.
Who’s making moves
RedInk Multimedia changes its clothes
RedInk Multimedia, a six-year-old multimedia powerhouse, has changed its clothes with a rebranding effort, new offices and a re-energised staff complement.
“RedInk Multimedia, and its holding company, RedInk Publishing, is in a growth phase. We’ve spent the last few years working very hard to build a business that really makes a difference…to our clients, their brands and to the markets we serve,” says RedInk Multimedia’s managing director, Daniella Louw.
RedInk’s speciality lies in the conceptualisation of fully integrated social media campaigns, their creative execution and the daily and consistent monitoring and content management of those pages, as well as other disciplines such as email marketing, mobile marketing, web, mobi and app development, SEO and traditional PR and online reputation management.
marcusbrewster launches media training division
PR agency marcusbrewster has launched a fully-fledged media training division, extending its already-comprehensive service offering even further. The media training menu covers a wide range of subjects, from the basics of understanding media to interview techniques, how to handle difficult questioning, and crisis and reputation management.
Training courses are, however, dynamic and will be tailored to meet each particular client’s requirements. For added realism, clients can also opt to receive practical training in a fully operational television studio, accurately recreating a real-life interview situation under lights and before cameras.
MD, San Reddy, and senior associate, Willem Steenkamp, who between them boast almost four decades’ worth of television and print media experience, will handle training. Their combined skills give marcusbrewster media training the edge over competitors, who tend to focus on either print or electronic media – but not both.
“A solid understanding of media and how it works, and being equipped with the myriad skills required to engage effectively with media, is not a nice-to-have option for a serious business and its leadership – it’s a necessity,” says marcusbrewster chairman, Marcus Brewster.
