As part of Youth Month, Capricorn FM will host The Business of Music, a free two day seminar aimed at empowering and inspiring the youth of Limpopo in the music industry. Three hundred music enthusiasts between the ages of 18 – 34 will gain invaluable insight into the forces shaping South Africa’s music industry.
Simphiwe Mdlalose, chief executive officer and co-founder of Capricorn FM, will impart some of his knowledge into the relationship between music and media. “It takes the entire village to raise a child; we are proud and honoured to be able to get such talent into one room and impart priceless knowledge and share life experiences with our youth. We hope that this is the beginning of a great partnership and that together we will make a meaningful and measureable difference in the lives of our youth,” says Mdlalose says.
Lindelani Mkhize, executive director of Universal Records with 20 years in the music industry, will present the keynote address and share his musical journey and share a case study on ‘the birth of Joyous Celebration’. Kabelo Mabalane will also be on hand, and will take to the stage and speak about ‘branding and overcoming media hype’ and Ventilation’s Shagasmakx. Comical Ashifa Shabba will be the programme director for the seminar and ensure that the audience keep intrigued and excited about the proceedings.
Proudly Limpopo musicians such as Colbert Mokwevho, Candi, Richard Hlungwani of Culprit Entertainment along with DJ’s Revolution will run interactive workshops on SAMRO processes, drafting a business plan, branding, video production, DJ-ing and cause marketing on day two. The seminar will conclude with Capricorn FM’s Legendary Mahala party at Jembe Tarven with DJ Complexion, George Lacosta and friends of the station.
The event will take place at Meropa Hotel Casino in Polokwane on 22 – 23 June 2012 at 8:00am – 6pm.
