Due to an overwhelming response, the MTN Bushfire Festival artist applications deadline has been extended to 19 November 2012. “We are heartened by the response of artists from all over the world, this goes to show how much the festival has grown over the years,” says Jiggs Thorne, director of the festival. “We have had numerous requests to extend the deadline and have decided to give artists an extra two weeks.”
Taking place from 31 May to 2 June 2013 in Swaziland’s scenic Malkerns Valley, the 7th annual MTN Bushfire Festival has received applications from countries such as Burkina Faso, Norway, Portugal, Swaziland, Tanzania, Cape Verde, France, South Africa, Sweden and Mozambique across varied arts disciplines including music, visual arts, poetry and theatre.
This Call to Action is for artists in all creative mediums to Bring their Fire to an inimitable, socially responsible festival that brings talent and audiences of up to 20 000 together from throughout Africa and around the world.
With 100% profits donated to charity, the three day event is renowned for eclectic and multi-dimensional programming rooted in world music, particularly Pan-African, and a compelling line-up of theatre, poetry, dance, art, exhibits & installations, story-telling, puppetry, film, provocative speakers, and themed workshops.
