SABC has renewed the popular South African television documentary series I Am Woman, Leap of Faith for a second season.
The series features pivotal, life changing turning points in women’s lives. Now, with a new season on the cards, the producers are looking for women who can tell their powerful stories, stories that will inspire the nation.
“It’s been a life changing experience working on this series,” says Lisa Chait, the woman who came up with the initial idea. “We all take so many leaps of faith each day. For us though, a leap of faith is not something religious per say, it’s about our humanity and what it takes to step into the great unknown either by choice or force of circumstance. I think it’s something everybody – women, men and even children can relate to. The great thing is that the very act of leaping changes your life forever, yet so many of us are afraid to jump, to let go, to explore new territory”.
The series has so far featured a broad range of women’s stories, across all cultures and ages and across the country. “We find our women mainly through word of mouth,” says production manager Antoinette Engel, who also directed three episodes in the series. “For season two as with season one we are looking for compelling stories and women who can share their journey in a way that leaves others inspired”.
