Hot Online Fashion, a South African fashion etailer, is setting new industry standards by teaming up with Greenpop to get serious about sustainable living and help combat deforestation in Southern Africa.
“It’s about time the South African fashion industry got involved. Whether you’re a designer, retailer, etailer or customer, if you create, sell or buy a product, you have a carbon footprint and it’s your responsibility to reduce that. Simple,” says Hot Online Fashion’s marketing director, Daron Chatz.
For every 100 sales Hot Online Fashion make, they’ve pledged to plant a tree. If you think that doesn’t sound like a lot, think again. With the shift in perception towards online shopping in South Africa, the gross number of sales an etailer can expect to make is in the hundreds – and that’s just per day.
“We’re a team of young, style-savvy people with an overwhelming passion and commitment to giving back, both to our community and to the environment. Our eco-initiatives echo in everything we do from our website that’s hosted on a carbon neutral server to all of our printed collateral that uses sustainably farmed paper and eco veggie inks,” adds Chatz.
“Greenpop is proud to welcome Hot Online Fashion to the Greenpop family – the first of its kind and hopefully not the last! Pledging trees with Greenpop is a really meaningful way of supporting a more sustainable future and it’s so easy to do”, says Greenpop’s communications officer, Kate Pallet.
