The Media Shop has for the second consecutive year been named Large Media Agency of the Year at the annual AdReview Awards and veteran Harry Herber honoured with the Lifetime Achiever Award.
Group Managing Director Chris Botha was en route to London when the awards were announced and posted on Facebook hours later “Just landed in Dubai and learned that The MediaShop was voted Large Media Agency of the Year. Congratulations to the most amazing 150 people on earth I have the privilege of working with every day. To our partners, thanks for making us, without you we don’t exist.”
On Herber’s award Botha said, ”It couldn’t have gone to a more deserving person; Harry has been instrumental in moulding so many people’s lives and careers and has been a fundamental cornerstone in the media industry.”
AdReview said The MediaShop picked up R630 million in new business, more than any other agency; that the agency runs an active programme of interaction with clients and media owners; has created a lecture series for its clients entitled ‘Media Under the Magnifying Glass’; that mobile expertise has been added to the agency’s repertoire and that a record R2 million was spent on training during the year.
On Herber the publication states ‘He has a passion for delivering on promises and an attitude that demands that The MediaShop ‘goes the extra mile’ hence the agency’s ‘Open 24 hours…no problem payoff’.
In just the past 12 months, The Media Shop has been heralded Large Media Agency of the Year twice by Adreview, won Overall Media Agency of the Year at the MOST Awards for the second consecutive year and was awarded the Tiger Brands and Edcon accounts among others.
Jointly, the Sandton, Cape Town and Durban offices house 150 staff and control approximately R4 billion in billings.
