Lize-Marie Dreyer was recently named the winner of Southern Africa’s very first Portfolio Night, hosted by McCann Johannesburg. As the winning student, voted by a jury of top industry creatives, Dreyer was named the ‘All-Star and her prize included a trip to the Art Directors Club (ADC) in New York City. It was here that she participated in a five-day creative challenge alongside 23 other gifted All-Stars. Representatives gathered from 35 cities around the world, including New Dehli, Paris, Toronto and Tokyo.
The inaugural Portfolio Night, on 22 May, saw a whole new generation of creative talent converge to participate in the event, which was won by the fourth-year student from Open Window School of Visual Communications. The jury comprised of South Africa’s most talented creative directors, executive creative directors, and chief creative officers in the advertising industry.
“The chance to participate in the creative challenge at the Art Directors Club in the USA was thrilling. More so in that I had the chance of working on a real brief from Ford; it really was an opportunity of a lifetime!” says Dreyer.
McCann Johannesburg chief creative officer, Pierre Odendaal, added, “We are proud of Lize-Marie and we hope the experience will have a positive impact on her journey as a creative in South Africa. We received great feedback on her performance and we’re pleased to say that our country is right up there with the rest and best in the world. We hope Lize-Marie goes on to do big things in the industry and that she shares her newfound knowledge and experience with her culturally diverse peers.”
