Changes @ DStv

“It will be the first sports channel in South Africa devoted entirely to the greatest moments, and legends in sport,” a statement reads.

ESPN Classic will be broadcast on channel 231 from 1 May.

align=leftMeanwhile, DStv has announced plans to reshuffle its channels from 1 May, which will include the refinement of the movie, general entertainment, news and commerce genres. All other genres will remain in their current positions.

align=leftThis comes only six months after DStv’s initial reshuffle. At the time it was said that channels would not be reshuffled for at least five years.

align=leftAsked why this didn’t happen, Jackie Rakitla, MultiChoice general manager for corporate affairs, said: “The changes have come about due to very pertinent and positive feedback we have received from our customers. Our customer feedback and recommendations are taken very seriously and have been instrumental in MultiChoice making further refinements to our channel numbering and positioning.”

align=leftOn the DStv website’s ( href=”https://www.dstv.com/” target=_blank mce_href=”https://www.dstv.com/”https://www.dstv.com/) forum, the latest channel shuffle is described by one “Marleen” as a waste of time. “We subscribers just get used to the new channel spots and now MultiChoice wants to have another channel shuffle! Does DStv ever think about older people who find this channel shuffle disturbing and difficult to remember?”

align=leftOthers welcome the changes. “I like the new proposed channel number changes. It will be much easier to remember the numbers,” comments “Carel”.

align=leftAccording to Rakitla, subscribers will from 1 May be able to view the genres as follows:

align=leftSport: 200s

!_LT_LI

align=leftKids: 300s

align=left■ Correction: The new ESPN channel will be broadcast from 1 May, and not 24 July as was first reported.
