The Media magazine is calling for nominations ahead of the 1st for Women Insurance Women in Media Awards, which will take place on July 28, 2011.

Now in its ninth year, the 1st for Women Insurance Women in Media Awards is the only awards event in South Africa that recognises and honours women who’ve made a significant impact in the media industry.

“Women in the Media Awards has grown in stature and importance over the years. The award acknowledges and celebrates women’s role across the media spectrum, encouraging a vibrant community of journalists, researchers, producers and publishers,” says Sandra Gordon, CEO of Wag the Dog Publishers, owner of The Media and founder of the event.

1st for Women Insurance are sponsoring the event for the second year.

“Recognising female media talent across a range of beats and forums promotes the growth of an industry and is crucial to the vibrancy and dynamism of a democratic society,” said Robyn Farrell, managing director of female-only insurer, 1st for Women Insurance.

Nominations are called for in the following categories – the 1st for Women in The Media Award; the 1st for Women Rising Star Award (applauding the efforts of women under the age of 30); and the 1st for Women Lifetime Achievement Award.

For nomination forms, please contact accountmanager@stonesoup.co.za or click onto the banner ad on TheMediaOnline homepage.
