N$$M: Guns…Greed…Genoncide for TopTV

TopTV is screening a critically acclaimed documentary by Del Waters that reveals just how deadly United States foreign policy was for Africa in the period after many countries gained independence.

N$$M: Guns…Greed…Genocide deals with blood diamonds, uranium trafficking, the oil business and CIA-sponsored coups d’états and exposes never before seen films, unheard tapes and interviews with the people who watched it all unfold.

NSSM stands for National Security Study Memorandum. These top secret documents are studies, ordered by U.S Presidents, before the official policy of the United States Government is determined.

“I was among the fortunate who saw this film when it premiered at the Cannes International Film Festival. I was stunned then and still can’t believe what I saw and heard. This film is what documentaries are supposed to be about. It exposes the horrors inside the Nixon administration that led to Africa’s ultimate collapse. Several people in the audience wept openly, and I haven’t looked at the African continent the same way since.

“Del says it best when he says, ‘Africa is our holocaust’. Rent this if you have not, but it if you can!” writes Bettye P on the Blockbuster.com reviews page.

President Richard Nixon is exposed as a racist bigot in the documentary. “The Africans can’t run things…now that is a very fundamental point in the international scene,” says Nixon, in archival footage used in the documentary. Nixon went on to say: “…black Americans aren’t as good as black Africans – most of them, basically, are just out of trees. No, let’s face it, they are.”

The filmmakers examined over 30 000 pages of once classified documents and more than 100 hours of unseen archive footage. They gathered declassified audiotapes that revealed the true mentality inside the Nixon White House when it comes to Africa.

FOX Africa Director, Thandi Davids, says many will find Nixon and subsequent US leadership attitudes to Africa shocking. “Our FX Only in Africa documentary strand is committed, going beyond what we think we know, unearthing well-documented research, looking at our past and showing where Africa finds itself at present.”

“I saw this film at a special screening in the Washington D.C. area and walked away speechless. This is THE film that must be seen if you are to understand the African Diaspora. It tells all of the government’s secrets, from internal recordings about Africa inside the Oval Office, to top-secret documents. This documentary is so thorough it will likely lead to multiple award nominations and change the diplomatic landscape,” says Sylvia W on Blockbuster.com.

N$$M: GUNS…GREED…GENOCIDE will be shown on FX Only In Africa on TopTV Channel 110 on Saturday 16 July at 8:30pm, Sunday 17 July at 22:05 and Monday 18 July at 19:25.
