A first in South Africa’s online space, Remembered.co.za is an online memorial site which offers those left behind a place to honour a loved one who has died. The site allows family and friends to share memories regardless of location and create a permanent memorial.
“We believe we have created a very special offering in the South African digital space, a place where those separated by distance can come together to celebrate the life of one who has passed on,” says Zunaid Parker, business manager behind Remembered.co.za.
Friends, family and colleagues of the one who has passed on are able to contribute to the memorial, creating a central, interactive location to exchange memories, which may otherwise be forgotten with time. Remembered.co.za allows users to populate the eulogy with biographical information, personal pictures, videos and tributes.
In addition to this personal aspect, Remembered.co.za is host to a number of memorials, tributes and obituaries of recognised South Africans, from Shaka Zulu to Miriam Makeba and many more. Biographers and genealogists will find value in the wealth of information available to researchers.
