Briefly… 60th Cannes Lions opens for entries
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Ads24 is giving entrants more creative freedom to design a funky retro-feel T-Shirt and win some great prizes in the last leg of the fourth annual Think Afrikaans competition. The parameters of the competition have been widened. The T-shirt design brief is now quite broad, simply celebrate the quirkiness and novelty of the ‘Afrikaanse Fotoverhaal’ genre.

The ‘Fotoverhaal’ is an Afrikaans graphic novel that was completed in the first phase of the competition by creative professionals. The result was a story that highlights the drama and intrigue of a love triangle. Martiena’s hormones are all a-twitter. She can’t decide who her heart belongs to – De Wildt or De Kok. Both men are fighting to secure her affection and it’s ‘tawwe stryd’. She is caught in the middle as the fighting escalates and, in a final confrontation De Wildt kills De Kok and takes Martiena to see the new season of The Bachelorette.  Click here to see the completed ‘Fotoverhaal’.

What’s needed now is a story title and a cover page. It can have something or nothing to do with the story but must be in the ‘Afrikaans Fotoverhaal’ style. Time is limited and the final deadline for Think Afrikaans T-shirt design entries is 28 August.  Click here to enter.

There is no limit to the number of entries that each person can submit. The best cover design masthead for a photo novel or comic strip book will win. This needs to be something that will look great on a     T-shirt, poster or other marketing material. The three finalists will win an all-expenses paid trip to the Pendoring Awards in Cape Town (flights, accommodation and transfers). The winner will take home a MacBook Pro. Second and third place will win an iPhone 5 and an iPad respectively.

Tim du Plessis, executive editor of Afrikaans newspapers at Media24 said, “Pendoring is an important showcase to the world. With truly South African words, expressions, phrases and ideas, we communicate to a very loyal market that show their appreciation for talking to them in their own language by opening their wallets.”
