Although adjudication of the MTN Radio Awards entries is done by a panel of radio and media specialists, listeners also have a say in the awards, particularly in the ‘My Station’ category. By sending a SMS vote with the code of their favourite station, listeners not only show their love for the station, but also put themselves in line to win an incredible prize which comprises: two return air tickets to the US on Delta Air Lines with three nights’ accommodation for two people sharing in Florida – with the choice of Miami/Fort Lauderdale/Tampa/Orlando; two tickets to attend the MTN Radio Awards Gala Banquet; and a smartphone with R500 airtime.
There are two sections to the My Station competition as far as stations go: the first being the station that generates the most votes and the second being the station that has the most loyal listeners, which is the ratio of votes measured against the station’s RAMS listenership figures.
