In the past, companies and communications professionals contacted Sapa with media alerts and news releases. But last night, at midnight, the South African Press Association ceased operations, for good.
Today, on 1 April, News24 launched News24Wire, a new wire service to support digital and traditional publishers in South Africa and beyond. Media24’s substantial stable of print and digital publications will be using the wire from launch.
The service will also include a comprehensive diary service for subscribers and is being run by Sapa’s former diary editor. The team includes Sapa veterans around South Africa as well as a network of correspondents. Media24 believes the News24Wire will soon be the most significant, independent news service in the country.
To facilitate the flow of news and information it has set up an email address to receive media alerts and releases that will be turned into news items for our subscribers.
