Briefly… Sisters With Blisters raises R460 000
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Thousands of sisters and misters braved the rain weather and took to the streets of Bryanston on Saturday to “stop” the violence against women and children at Jacaranda FM’s Sisters with Blisters in association with 1st for Women. The walk, held at Bryanston High School attracted more than 6 500 people who wore heels, pumps and tackies in the true spirit of the event; to earn their blisters and help raise awareness and money for the cause and the two worthy charities who are active in the fight against abuse of women and children.

The  field of 6 500 people raised an incredible R460 000.00 which was donated  on the day to Women and Men Against Child Abuse (WMACA) and Sonke Gender Justice network for the exceptional care and support they provide to women and children affected by the abuse.

Sisters with Blisters is Gauteng’s biggest walk in aid of the 16 Days of Activism for no Violence against Women and Children campaign. “It’s a great event and it’s heart-warming to see how people came out in the rain to show their stance for such a worthy initiative. We’re proud as a station with our partners 1st for Women to be a big voice taking an active stance on such an important issue, and we look forward to thousands more joining us in the future – high heels and all. It’s another ‘lekker to be here” experience but it’s the cause that wins and the charities who get to continue doing their critical work”, said Jacaranda FM’s general manager, Kevin Fine.
