According to the company’s latest year-end Zeitgeist  a “glimpse of what has been on our collective consciousness” in the past year “ social networking sites https://badoo.com/, https://www.facebook.com/” and https://www.hi5.com and video sharing sites https://www.dailymotion.com/ and https://www.youtube.com/were top of mind in 2007.

Apple’s iPhone, Time‘s Invention of the Year, is in the top spot on this list. The “genuine handheld, walk-around computer” is also on the list of most popular news searches in 2007.

Other search terms on the list of fastest climbers are the virtual worlds https://secondlife.com, https://www.webkinz.com/, https://www.webkinz.com/, https://www.clubpenguin.com/, and https://www.ebuddy.com/.

Online related search terms on the list of those that have lost favour include the peer-to-peer file sharing site  https://www.kazaa.com/us/index.htm and the online community  https://www.xanga.com/

In the USA an online related term made the top three on the list of most popular “What is…?” questions web surfers asked Google. “What is RSS (Rich Site Summary of Really Simple Syndication)?” was the third most popular such question. The most popular was: “What is love?”, followed by “What is autism?”.
