SARIE magazine was a big winner at this year’s PICA awards with editor Michelle van Breda taking the title of the Jane Raphaely Consumer Editor of the Year once more, and the magazine winning the Rossi Trophy for Consumer Magazine of the Year. It also won Non Professional Writer of the Year with Annerie du Plooy winning the award for Ter Gedagtenis aan Henk. Brand extensions SARIE FOOD and SARIE KOS came out tops in the Annuals, Directories, Product Guides and Special Editions awards. SARIE KOS also won in the Décor, Crafts, Food and Gardening sector.
The other big winner, also taking five awards, was COSA Communications RISKSA. Hanna Barry won Profile Writer of the Year with Leading Lloyd’s for RISKSA in the Business-to-Business category as well as the Professional Services segment. The October 2012 edition took cover of the year in the Business-to-Business category and Andy Marks won Editor of the Year. RISKSA won the Watling Trophy for Business-to-Business Magazine of the Year.
Robbie Stammers, who left Leadership to launch Cape Union Mart’s Intrepid Explorer won Customer Editor of the Year, and Forbes Africa’s Chris Bishop was honoured with the Special Award for Editor.
VISI, relaunched earlier this year, won Consumer Cover of the Year for its innovative do-it-yourself cross-stitch cover that invited readers to do their best to create their own cover.
