Gauteng’s fastest growing community radio station, AlexFM, is hosting a fundraiser that will be attended by a myriad of prominent South Africans who will come together under the theme, ‘Bridging the gap between the formal and informal market’.  Minister of public enterprises, Malusi Gigaba, will address the attendees as keynote speaker, while confirmed VIP guests include Gauteng MEC and ANC Youth League provincial chairperson Lebogang Maile, and the minister of arts and culture, Paul Mashatile.

“AlexFM has been committed serving the community for nearly two decades and we hope this will continue for well into the future. We are not just a part of Alexandra and surrounds, but we are also invested and involved in our community. We invest in meaningful partnerships such as Take A Girl Child to work, the Adopt a Learner campaign, and the Aged Annual Beauty Contest,” says Trinity Mohlamme, station manager for AlexFM.

Tables are still available for the event, hosted by Grant Thornton South Africa at their Sandton offices. The evening will include a three-course meal, an art auction presided over by renowned local artist Bongi Dhlomo-Mautla, and entertainment by musician, Vusi Nova.

The evening aims to raise much-needed funds for the Alexandra Community Broadcasting Trust, fondly known as AlexFM. The station provides detailed, impartial and accurate information on issues that are of interest to Alexandra and communities beyond the boundaries of Johannesburg: a 50 kilometres square radius that is home to approximately one million people. Established in the early 1990s, AlexFM also provides a walk-in centre and agent for community development and positive change. On air since 1995, AlexFM is in need of funding to acquire new premises to house the station, as well as additional funding to meet their 2014 objectives.

Date: Thursday 06 March 2014

Time: 19h00 – 22h30

Venue: Grant Thornton offices, 137 Daisy Street, Sandown

Dress: Formal

Tables are currently available at R20 000, and can seat 10 guests; to reserve a table please contact Nthabeleng Makubire on nmakubire@alexfm.co.za. For media queries kindly contact claire_winson@yahoo.com or 074 141 8489.
