5FM on air personality Roger Goode will be joining MTV star Nomuzi Mabena at the mother of all music award ceremonies – the MTV Video Music Awards – in Los Angeles at the end of the month.
The 2014 MTV Video Music Awards take place at the Forum, Inglewood, California on Sunday 24 August. The show premieres live on MTV (DStv Extra/DStv Compact channel 130) on Monday 25 August at 03:00 CAT, with the primetime premiere later the same date at 21:00 CAT (red carpet show at 20:00 CAT).
‘The Goode Doctor’ and the VJ will rub shoulders with the glitterati, and hang out on the red carpet with the hottest stars in the universe including Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, Maroon 5, Iggy Azalea, Rita Ora, Usher and 5 Seconds of Summer.
Goode will host the entire weekend and introduce MTVs best shows from the sunny locale of LA and VMA 2014. The channel will also air Goode’s personal VMA diary, ‘The VMA gets Roger’d Goode’ on Sunday 31 August at 18:00 CAT), with the MTV cameras following him as he takes in LA in the run up to the awards, checking out the familiar sights and sounds of the city. Venturing off the beaten path to show the underbelly of LA, Roger will meet a range of colourful characters along the way, and attending all the parties, press conferences and junkets in the run up to the VMAs, before chewing the fat with the stars on the red carpet and watching the show from the best seats in the house.
In a partnership between MTV and 5FM, Goode will also give the inside track on the VMAs on his weekday 5FM radio show from 18–25 August (16:00 -19:00 CAT), with special daily VMA reports from LA-LA land, including highlights, backstage gossip, gigs, interviews and more. Bubbly Nomuzi will be in the thick of the VMA action too – co-hosting links and clips with Goode from the red carpet of the VMA on Monday 25August from 15:00 – 20:00 on MTV.
“This is going to be a crazy adventure bringing you the back streets of LA, the front seats of the VMA and some red carpet madness. Nomuzi and I are taking over the VMA whether they like it or not – somebody get me my spray tan!” Goode said.
