Proudly South African, in partnership with the department of arts and culture, the Gautrain and Zinto Activation Group, will embark on a massive social cohesion drive on Friday, 13 February 2015 in an effort to promote love for South Africa and its people ahead of Valentine’s Day.
This forms part of Proudly SA’s annual Show Your Love for South Africa Valentine’s campaign. This year’s theme is ‘Show Your Love for South Africa – United in Our Diversity’. Various South African celebrities, including Vusi Nova, Noeleen Maholwana Sanqu, Pearl Thusi, Brian Temba, Desiree Chauke, Tuks Senganga, Mutodi Neshe, The 3 Tenors, Melinda Bam, Daniel Baron, Meshack Mavuso, Wandile Molebatsi, the 12 Miss SA finalists and Rosie Motene will also join Proudly SA and its partners to unite “in love” for the country and its people as they take to one of the Gautrain’s busiest stations a day before Valentine’s Day. The new Miss South Africa, Ziphozakhe Zokufa, will also participate.
“We will be distributing thousands of South African flags and cards at the Gautrain’s busiest station which is located in Sandton. Thousands of people from all over Gauteng pass through the station daily. The cards will carry the messaging of showing love for our country and all who live in it. We are all about promoting and encouraging national pride, patriotism, social cohesion and Ubuntu,” said the CEO of Proudly South African, Adv. Leslie Sedibe.
The DAC will also be distributing thousands of “patriotism passports” which are small booklets containing information on the South African constitution and its preamble, which states “… South Africa belongs to all who live in it, united in our diversity…” The “patriotism passports” also contain key information on national symbols, the flag and flag etiquette.
