In 2008, SAfm was successful in receiving funding from the National Arts Festival to stage a play promoting radio drama at The Rhodes Theatre. For Your Ears Only ran for a week in Grahamstown and was then commissioned by Pieter Toerien to be staged at Theatre On The Bay in Cape Town for two weeks and at Montecasino in Johannesburg for two weeks.
At the beginning of 2015, The Playhouse Company in KZN approached SAfm with a request to stage the play in December 2015. The play promotes the genre of radio drama and stars an ensemble cast of well-known radio actors.
The Playhouse Company proudly presents this hilarious Paul Slabolepszy production featuring the writer himself, as well as the enormously popular Michael Richard, Louise Saint-Claire, Sibusiso Radebe, Michael Gritten, Bheki Mqadi and Bronwyn van Graan. Directed by giant of the SA stage, Ralph Lawson, the production takes us behind the scenes of a radio studio ‘soapie’ in a comedy that crackles with hilarity and intrigue.
