The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) will launch SABC News Live, a dedicated digital pop-up channel providing live election coverage, on SABC+ on 19 October 2026.

The channel will deliver minute-by-minute coverage of election-related developments, key issues and stories affecting communities across South Africa.

Available free on SABC+, the public broadcaster’s digital streaming platform, SABC News Live will be accessible on smartphones, tablets, computers and smart TVs.

The initiative forms part of the SABC’s public service mandate to provide timely, credible and accessible news. It will also explore digital storytelling formats, including podcasts and other audience-focused content, aimed at encouraging younger audiences to engage with electoral issues.

The channel is intended to expand access to election coverage across digital platforms and create new opportunities for audiences to participate in electoral conversations.

SABC News Live will be available on SABC+ from 19 October 2026.
