Dr Iain Macdonald is an Associate Professor in Graphic Design and Advertising. He is Programme Leader for MSc Creative Advertising, and also teaches on BDes (Hons) Graphic Design and MDes Design programmes in the School of Arts & Creative Industries.

His research interests are centred on how heritage (traditional handcrafts) and digital practices fuse to form hybrid methods in moving image design. Practice-led research into his own moving image work formed the core of his doctorate research. His work in education has also informed his pedagogic research into internationalisation, the moving image and lens-based media, forming an argument for future directions in art and design practice.
