Jessie Yasmin Duarte is a former spokesperson for the African National Congress. A long time anti-apartheid activist, she has served variously as a special assistant to Nelson Mandela, a member of the provincial cabinet (MEC) for Gauteng, and was previously an ambassador to Mozambique. She was elected Deputy Secretary General at the ANC's 53rd National Conference in Mangaung, December 2012.
