Kagiso Mnisi is a Johannesburg-based South African writer and independent curator with a deep interest in the evolution of his city. His writing focuses on the intersection between urbanism, technology and urban culture. Mnisi has contributed for This Is Africa, Africa Is A Country, Contemporary And, Blaque, BPM, Muse, Joburg Style, The Times, Standard Bank Arts, Reboot FM (Berlin) and JHB Live.
His other forms of expression include curating and hosting a collaborative fleeting radio project between Radio en Construction (Strasbourg) and Keleketla! Library (SA) in 2012 at Stevenson Gallery Johannesburg. The feat resulted in another experimental project hosted at L'Ososphere electronic arts festival in Strasbourg, France, where he exhibited an audio intervention whose content had clips of major role players in Joburg such as scenario planners, authors, independent publishers and musicians. The temporary online radio created a space open for dialogue on international exchange through music and discussions. Mnisi has also co-directed a documentary project called Remembered Futures, which explores ideas around freedom, youth and remembrance in contemporary South Africa.
