I joined Brunel as a Reader in January 2014. Before that I lived in Australia, and worked at The University of Technology, Sydney, as an Associate Professor in Cultural Studies.

I am currently working on a major collaborative project exploring the global cosmetic surgery tourist industry. More generally, I research feminist theories of the body, body modifications, especially cosmetic and plastic surgery, animal/human studies, popular culture, gender studies and media studies, especially visual studies.

I am the Commissioning Editor for the series Gender, Bodies and Transformations, Ashgate Publishers.
