Strini Naicker is the Vice President for Commercial and Content Distribution at ViacomCBS Networks Africa. He joined VNA in the role of Sales Director in 2011, before being promoted to Commercial Director in 2016. After completing his B. Acc Degree from the University of Kwa Zulu Natal, Naicker tested himself in corporate banking, working for the international division of First National Bank. After distinguishing himself in this role, he was head-hunted for a commercial position at the public broadcaster, where he took the opportunity to diversify his skill set by moving into the South African media space. While at the SABC, Naicker successfully completed his MBA at the Gordon Institute of Business Science. At the same time, he successfully implemented a range of technological innovations within his division at the national broadcaster. His ability to solve problems and take initiative on projects saw him move from Revenue Manager in 2003 to general manager for the Commercial Radio department, and within a year he was leading the SABC Commercial TV function in 2006. Driven by the desire for diversification and success, he left the SABC in 2008 to begin his own consulting business, where he offered his business knowledge to a range of local and international companies. During this time, he was approached by Alex Okosi, Executive Vice President & Managing Director at VNA, to assist with improving the sales and commercial properties within the African portfolio on a permanent basis. Naicker took the challenge in his stride, and within three months, VNA was experiencing over 30% growth in commercial activities, with these figures doubling year-on-year under Strini’s expert hands. His vision and drive for innovation has seen VNA become one of the industry leaders on the continent with a reach across 48 countries with 100 million viewers in Africa. Most recently in 2018 Strini led the acquisition of two new international networks, Discovery and AMC Networks. As a member of the Executive Leadership team at VNA, Strini is committed to innovating and increasing the market share of the company through pushing and challenging boundaries. He also hopes to imbue some of the business knowledge he’s acquired through his years of working in the African media landscape into a strong millennial team at VNA.
