IPS Africa and frayintermedia announce new strategic partnership
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

IPS Africa and frayintermedia have agreed a new partnership to strengthen their respective core competencies in delivering media and communication products and services. IPS Africa will bring in frayintermedia as its preferred training partner and frayintermedia will count on IPS Africa as its preferred partner for producing independent, professional journalism.

IPS Africa and frayintermedia are both Johannesburg-based companies with solid track records and complementary expertise and experience. IPS Africa has more than 100 writers reporting from almost 50 countries on the major economic, social and development challenges of Africa, with its news features, opinion and analysis distributed to more than 700 media outlets across the continent. Frayintermedia offers an integrated approach to media training and has conducted courses throughout South Africa and across sub- Saharan Africa.

Paula Fray, Director of IPS Africa and founder of frayintermedia will now divide her time between the two organisations, returning to an operational role with frayintermedia after 3 years as full-time Director of IPS Africa. Commenting on the new strategic partnership Paula said: “The idea is to maximise the synergies between the two companies. In a challenging media and economic landscape we need to build strategic alliances that leverage cooperation and support excellence.”

Govin Reddy, the Chair of the IPS Africa Board who brokered the partnership said “We are delighted that Paula Fray will continue to lead IPS Africa from strength to strength. This agreement ensures that she can do that while resuming her training development role with frayintermedia.”

IPS Africa is a regional media and communication not-for profit Section 21 Company registered in South Africa, and part of the IPS international News Agency.

Frayintermedia is a media training company, registered as a close corporation in South Africa.

IPS News Agency

In a rapidly globalising world, increasingly dominated by large media conglomerates driven by a corporate agenda, the voice of the poor and marginalized is at risk of going unheard. Yet, no process of development can be sustainable without bringing voices and views from the villages and the streets together with those from the boardrooms and the summits. Ever since its inception, over 40 years ago, IPS has strived to act as an information bridge between the local and the global, and between the expert and the layperson. We combine the credibility of a professional news agency and strong penetration of traditional media markets, with a clear focus on the South, and strong relationships with civil society and the international community.
