NAB appoints sales manager

Michelle Vahl has joined the Johannesburg NAB team as sales manager. She was most recently a branch manager at The Highway Mail, having joined the Caxton family in 1996. She is fully versed in the local newspaper platform both from a sales and an editorial point of view.

“Michelle’s transition from branch manager into NAB’s sales and marketing team has been seamless thanks to her long association with Caxton’s culture,” says Joint MD Gill Randall. “She’s also had a lot of experience heading up a team and running various training programmes within Caxton. We’re thrilled to have her on board where she is already having a positive effect on the team.”

Last year Michelle was one of 14 women in South Africa chosen to participate in the WIN programme, a management development course designed specifically for women in media. Training included Human Resource Management, Marketing Management, Financial Management, Strategy Development, Coaching, Change Management, Organisational Cultures, Digital Media, Management vs Leadership, Advertising and Marketing and New Media Models.

Wayne Zwiers appointed to strengthen iProspect’s performance in SSA

iProspect has appointed Wayne Zwiers as managing director of the Johannesburg team. Zwiers was previously at Basetwo (Aqua, Wunderman Group) where his talent in the digital sphere took him from digital client service director to managing partner.

Having gathered his skill-set working between UK-based and local companies, his wealth of knowledge and understanding of digital media, namely; websites, microsites, WAP or mobisites and other digital mediums, gives him a holistic viewpoint over client expectations and requirements and will provide invaluable insight in driving iProspect’s business performance. When asked about his appointment Zwiers said, “One of my goals at iProspect is to re-align the agency processes in order to meet each of our clients’ unique requirements as well as better position ourselves for future growth and opportunities with South Africa’s most progressive brands.”

Justin Hartman, group managing director for iProspect SSA, stated, “Wayne will be tasked with growing the Johannesburg team and clients’, and together we plan on scaling iProspect into a formidable digital agency second to none.”

Nomzamo Mbatha makes a melodic move to TRACE Sports Stars as host of “A World of Music” Month in June

In June, TRACE Sports Stars celebrates World Music Day by cranking up the volume to an epic line-up of programmes dedicated to music in all of its monumental and boundless glory, with the ever-so-exuberant actress Nomzamo Mbatha guiding viewers through a selection of shows as host of “A World of Music” Month. Tune into TRACE Sport Stars on DStv, channel 188, every Friday night from 9PM to witness Miss Mbatha convey the sheer majesty of music.

Sports Stars will draw attention to some of the biggest music stars on the planet, whilst taking a look at some of the outstanding emerging talents that encompass music from our eclectic world’s urban scene.

Passionate about female empowerment, Nomzamo’s busy schedule has seen the Durban native on the reality TV game show Holiday Swap KZN and the brand new series Umlilo. Despite her heavy workload, Mbatha still finds time to put her philanthropic interests to use by supporting some incredible charitable organisations, working with HIVSA and UNAIDS.

Switch takes on advertising visibility campaign for Gauteng Tourism

Switch has recently been appointed to create an advertising visibility campaign for Gauteng Tourism, highlighting the kinds of positive experiences that tourists can have in Gauteng’s townships. Rainer Pabst, general manager at Switch says, “We are thrilled to be appointed to create a campaign that promotes these very local and very relevant South African experiences. From an advertising and creativity perspective, this job is a dream brief.”

Gauteng Tourism believes that Switch is the ideal agency for the job, having carried out high profile design and advertising works for various high-end tourism companies as well as for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

“As demonstrated in their Bid Proposal and supporting portfolio of evidence, we believe that Switch has the in-house talent and vision to create a campaign that sells the vibrancy and excitement that our townships offer,” says Adrian Amod, Director Brand Management at Gauteng Tourism. “We’re looking forward to seeing their unique expression of our offering.”
