The Publishers Support Services has announced the finalists in the 2017 Standard Bank Sikuvile Awards, awards that annually recognise excellence in South African journalism.

There were a total of 328 entries in the 14 categories. The entries were judged in July by the judging panel and 41 titles selected as finalists.

As per tradition, categories 15 to 18 will only be announced at the Awards ceremony, which will take place on 19 October at The Venue Greenpark (also known as Johannesburg World Trade Centre) in Sandton, Gauteng.

The judging panel was headed by convener judge Mathatha Tsedu and includes Dinesh Balliah, Gus Silber, Henry Jeffreys, Mike Siluma, Tyrone August, Phil Mtimkulu, Pippa Green, Tim du Plessis, Latiefa Mobara, Thabo Leshilo, Mary Papayya, Ryland Fisher, and Neo Ntsoma.
