Georgia Alida du Plessis is from South Africa and holds an LLB and LLM degree from the University of the Free State. She is currently doing her PhD at the University of Antwerp, Belgium.

Until January 2016 she worked as a lecturer at the University of the Free State, South Africa. After that she became a Research Fellow at the University of the Free State in order to pursue a PhD at the University of Antwerp.

In her position as researcher and lecturer, she published several articles and presented several papers on the right to education, the right to religious freedom in education and freedom of religious choice within education. She has also been assistant editor and later co-editor of the Journal for Juridical Science. She is also on the editorial board of the International Journal for Education Law and Policy.
