Maiyo has extensive experience in the public relations field and has held various key public relations and communications positions in the telecommunications and media industry. Areas of strength are strategy, research, relationship building, event management, media relations and employee engagement.

Her education begun in Wales, United Kingdom where she obtained O levels in English, English literature and French among others. She holds a NDip in Public Relations Management, a BA degree in Communication Science and a BA Honours degree in Media Studies, all from University of South Africa (UNISA).
