As the first commercial radio station in Cape Town to reach the 50-year mark, Good Hope FM plans to celebrate for their entire ‘birthday month’ of July to honour this iconic achievement. The trailblazer SABC radio station has had listeners hooked with their fast paced, music and lifestyle centric programming and has paved the way for many in what is now a thriving radio industry in South Africa.
Reaching this milestone is a significant feather their cap and Good Hope FM sees it as an opportunity to reflect on top achievements and also to strengthen the brand even more. “We are on a constant mission to reinvent ourselves and to stay ahead of the curve but we are also proud of our past, knowing that radio and entertainment industry heavyweights like Mark Gillman, Riaan Cruywagen, Randall Abrahams, Zuraida Jardine, Jeannie D and more recently Nick Hamman all launched their careers and got noticed first atGood Hope FM. As a brand we are an integral part of Cape Town culture and heritage and we intend to keep it that way, so to commemorate this exciting occasion I’d like to personally invite all our loyal listeners to celebrate with us because we wouldn’t be here without them!” says Good Hope FM Station Manager, Brendan Ficks.
A jam-packed calendar of celebratory activities for the month includes; ten fun days of live broadcasts for the ‘Suck it, we’re 50!’ campaign where listeners are encouraged to pop in and meet their favourite DJs, the announcement of a brand new weekend show ‘The Full House’ co-hosted by dynamic duo Lalla Hirayama and Taryn Louch, on-air birthday giveaways and supporting the ‘Souper Heroes’ drive to donate 67 litres of soup for Madiba Day. Celebrations will culminate at a big ‘5.0 Gold’ themed birthday party for listeners and VIPs.
Brand new weekend show ‘The Full House’ went live this Sunday from 09h00 – 12h00 with co-hosts South African celebrity, dancer, actor and TV presenter, Lalla Hirayama and entertainer, entrepreneur and writer, Taryn Louch. Together, they will entertain listeners on their weekly show, which will largely be broadcast from the SABC studios in Johannesburg and promises to be lots of fun, high energy and excellent radio value as the two ‘hot and happening’ ladies based in Johannesburg will deliver all the latest gossip and industry news, first hand. The dynamic duo’s first show will be broadcast live from Bay Harbour Market, Hout Bay and listeners are invited to pop in and say hello.
