All you need to know about the Establishment Survey
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

A very useful guide: Everything you want to know about the Establishment Survey including rate card, workshops and what it covers. Read on…

THE ESTABLISHMENT SURVEY …

  • IS a NATIONAL SURVEY of 25 000 respondents per annum, representative of the South African population, conducted by research company, KANTAR TNS.

The sample closely reflects the South African population and is concentrated in the following way:

  • Metro – 41%
  • Urban – 29%
  • Rural – 30%

The Establishment Survey:

  • COVERS the demographic/geographic /lifestyle/products and multi-media landscape.
  • MEASURES cross platform/cross device media consumption.
  • USES the single source population estimates from the IHS population dataset.
  • HAS a new segmentation model called the Establishment Survey SEM™
  • IS linked and aligned to the two massive electronic media currencies, BRC TAMS (television audience measurement system) and BRC RAM (radio audience measurement).

The Establishment Survey is:

  • FUNDED by the Broadcast Research Council (68%, majority shareholder) and the Publishers Research Council (32%).
  • RELEASED twice a year in March and September. The first six-month data release was launched in March 2017; the September 2017 release will be the one year dataset of a robust 25 000 respondent study.
  • AN INDUSTRY STUDY released through a number of software bureau, namely Telmar, Infotools and Nielsen’s Clear Decisions. All three software bureaus have bureau agreements with the BRC/PRC.
  • FREE OF CHARGE to all media agencies and their clients.
  • FREE OF CHARGE to all broadcast members of the BRC; all members of the PRC.

THE OWNERS of the Establishment Survey (the BRC/PRC) have set a reasonable and accessible rate card in the form of data subscriber agreements for:

  • Media owners
  • Research companies
  • SMMEs
  • NGOs and NPC companies

They have trademarked the Establishment Survey SEM™ with a license agreement in place for the use of the SEM scoring system.

Again a reasonable rate card has been set for companies to gain access to the SEM scoring system, for use on their own research studies at a once off nominal fee.

The Establishment Survey Data Subscribers’ rate card:

  • Media owners                                                R50 000 per release
  • Large research companies                           R25 000 per release

  • Media agencies and advertisers                  Free of charge

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
